Love For Others

As the body of Christ we are called to love one another. It's easy to do when we get love in return. But we won't always get that love, and we are still expected to give love. This can be hard. If someone punches you in the face, our first instinct is to fight back, but that is not what God told us to do. In Luke 6:29 says,  "If someone strikes you on the cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, don't stop them from taking your tunic." Jesus is telling us not to retaliate. If we do retaliate, then that makes us more like the world, and less like Jesus.
Luke 6:27-28 says"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." So if it was hard enough, not to retaliate, but we also have to love the person who punched you.  I'm not saying that you have to be best friends with that person, but you have to respect them. Sometimes, all somebody may need is to know that they are not alone in this world, and that someone does care. That can be as simple as saying "Hi" to someone in the hallway. We never know how big our actions can be for someone else.
