Going to school in Iowa you see only a few things, corn and ethanol plants. In church this week, the pastor made a connection to the change corn goes through to become ethanol. Corn turns from a solid to a liquid. There is a lot of energy that is required to make ethanol. The same thing happens to us. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." God wants to transform us into something new. But that process isn't it. It is very difficult, requires a lot of energy, and it takes time, but at the end of the day, your old self will be gone. The new self will be beautiful, and you will be able to live out God's will for your life, which is better than anything you can imagine.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for you love, and for wanting to make us into a new creation. During the rough times in my life, help me to find comfort in you. Amen.
